Why did condensation of water vapour become effective only when Earth began cooling?

Answer and explanation

Correct answer: At high temperatures, water vapour could not condense into stable liquid water

The early Earth was extremely hot, so water remained mainly as vapour in the atmosphere. As Earth cooled, the temperature became low enough for water vapour to condense into droplets and later fall as rain, producing stable liquid water. Gravity had existed since Earth formed; it did not begin only after cooling. Exam tip: link condensation with falling temperature, rainfall, and the formation of oceans.
