If water is available in roots but transpiration from leaves becomes very low, what will happen to upward movement of water?

Answer and explanation

Correct answer: Transpiration pull will decrease, so upward movement may slow down

The transpiration-pull mechanism explains much of the upward movement of water in tall plants. Evaporation from leaf surfaces lowers water potential and creates tension that is transmitted through the continuous water column in xylem. If transpiration becomes very low, this pull is reduced, so upward transport may slow, although root pressure and other forces can still contribute. Hence option A is the most accurate.
