Correct answer:
Sarnath is the place where Gautama Buddha delivered his first sermon after attaining enlightenment. This event is known as Dharmachakra Pravartana, or the turning of the Wheel of Dharma. He taught the Four Noble Truths and the Eightfold Path to his five former companions there. Ashoka is associated with the Sarnath Lion Capital, not with his death at Sarnath. Exam tip: Remember Sarnath as the site of Buddha’s first sermon and Dharmachakra Pravartana.
