Sasthamkotta Lake is a freshwater lake of which state?
Answer and explanation
The direct answer is A, Kerala. Sasthamkotta Lake is a well-known freshwater lake in Kerala, in the Kollam district. It is important because it supplies freshwater and is recognized as Kerala’s largest freshwater lake. Option A is correct because the lake is located in Kerala and its water is not the typical saline backwater water associated with many coastal lagoons. Option B, Gujarat, is wrong because Gujarat is associated with features such as the Rann of Kachchh and several coastal and inland water bodies, but not Sasthamkotta Lake. Option C, Delhi, is wrong because this lake is not located in the National Capital Territory. Option D, Bihar, is wrong because Sasthamkotta is not a Bihar lake. The best way to solve lake questions is to connect the lake name with its state and special feature. Do not confuse it with Vembanad or Ashtamudi, which are other important Kerala water bodies with different characteristics. Memory cue: Sasthamkotta means Kerala’s famous freshwater lake.
