Which mountain range is also called the Sahyadri?

Correct answer: Western Ghats

Option C, the Western Ghats, is correct because Sahyadri is a traditional and widely used name for this mountain system. The Western Ghats run roughly parallel to India’s western coast, from the region of Gujarat and Maharashtra through Goa and Karnataka toward Kerala and Tamil Nadu. They influence the southwest monsoon, support important forests and biodiversity, and separate the narrow coastal plain from the interior Deccan Plateau. The Vindhya and Aravalli ranges are separate systems located mainly in central and northwestern India. The Shiwalik range forms the outer foothills of the Himalayas and is unrelated to the Sahyadri name. The key association is therefore Sahyadri equals Western Ghats, making option C the only correct answer.
