If a sphere has correct highlight but no middle values in shadow how will the form appear?

Answer and explanation

Correct answer: The form transition will look harsh and less natural

Direct answer: A is correct. A sphere is a curved three-dimensional form, so its light should usually move through a range: highlight, light or middle values, core shadow, and sometimes reflected light. If the highlight changes suddenly into a very dark shadow, the transition loses the gradual modelling that tells the eye the surface is round. The result may look harsh, cut out, or less natural. B is wrong because transparency requires the viewer to see through the material. C is wrong because missing middle values do not automatically change colour temperature. D is wrong because compositional balance is not the issue. Memory cue: round form needs a gradual value bridge.
