Which answer most clearly relates texture and form?

Correct answer: Wood grain lines follow cube surface direction so form and material are clear

The correct answer is A because it explains how texture supports the perception of form. A cube has different planes and surface directions. If wood-grain lines follow those planes, the viewer can understand both the solid shape of the cube and the material covering it. This is an analysis, not merely a label: it identifies the texture, relates it to surface direction, and states the visual result. B only names a material and gives no explanation of its visible texture or form. C identifies the shape but says nothing about how texture describes it. D identifies a colour, which is different from texture and does not establish the cube’s three-dimensional structure. A helpful method is to ask whether the marks bend, change direction, or follow the surface. Memory cue: texture tells what a surface feels like; form tells how a solid body occupies space.
