Sericulture introduces Class 10 Agriculture students to the organised rearing of silkworms for silk production. They learn about the silkworm life cycle, suitable host plants, basic rearing conditions, hygiene, disease prevention, cocoon harvesting and silk reeling. Linked with Entrepreneurial Skill Development, the topic also helps students understand the resources, labour, costs, quality control and marketing involved in planning a small sericulture enterprise, while recognising its role in rural livelihoods and value addition.
