Permanent tissues
In Class 9 Science, the topic Permanent Tissues in the chapter “Tissues in Action” explains how plant cells that have stopped dividing become specialised for particular functions. Students learn the features and roles of simple permanent tissues—parenchyma, collenchyma and sclerenchyma—and complex tissues such as xylem and phloem. The topic connects their structures with storage, photosynthesis, support, protection and the transport of water, minerals and food throughout a plant.
