Pollination
In Class 9 Science, Pollination introduces the first step in the sexual reproduction of flowering plants, within the chapter “Reproduction: How Life Continues.” Students learn how pollen grains move from the anther to the stigma, and distinguish between self-pollination and cross-pollination. They also explore the roles of agents such as wind, water, insects, and other animals, and understand how pollination enables pollen-tube growth, fertilisation, and the later formation of seeds and fruits.
