Acceleration
In Class 9 Science, under “Describing Motion Around Us,” students learn that acceleration is the rate at which an object’s velocity changes with time. They explore the formula a = (v − u)/t, where u is initial velocity, v is final velocity, and t is the time taken, along with its SI unit, metre per second squared (m/s²). The topic also explains positive and negative acceleration, uniform acceleration, and how motion can be understood through everyday examples and basic motion graphs.
