Ribosomes
In the Class 9 Science chapter “Cell: The Building Block of Life,” students learn that ribosomes are tiny, non-membranous structures responsible for making proteins. The topic explains how ribosomes use information carried by messenger RNA to join amino acids in the correct order, a process called protein synthesis or translation. Students also explore their presence in both prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells, and understand the difference between free ribosomes and those attached to the endoplasmic reticulum.
