Molecular mass
In this Class 9 Science topic from “Atomic Foundations of Matter,” students learn that molecular mass is the total mass of all the atoms present in one molecule, expressed in atomic mass units (u). They practise reading chemical formulae, counting each type of atom, and adding the corresponding relative atomic masses to calculate values such as the molecular mass of water, carbon dioxide, and ammonia. The topic also helps distinguish molecular mass from formula unit mass used for ionic compounds.
